Sister Regina Cochran makes vows
MERIDEN, CT (8-22-2010) - Sister Regina Cochran professed vows of chastity, poverty and obedience into the hands of Mother Shaun Vergauwen, Mother General, during a Mass celebrated at the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist's chapel with the Meriden community of Sisters present.
With this step, Sister Regina completed her two-year novitiate and entered into vowed commitment to God, His Church and the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist. Sister Regina will continue her studies in theology at Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Cromwell, Connecticut, with the intent of finishing this semester with a Master of Arts in Theology with a concentration in Dogmatic Theology.
A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Sister Regina attended Louisiana State University for two and a half years before transferring and then graduating from Brevard College in Brevard, North Carolina in 2002. She holds a B.A. degree in Business and Outdoor Education. While in North Carolina, she served as Program Director at Camp Kahdalea and Chosatonga for eight summers. She also spent a year working for Americare. From North Carolina, she moved to Macomb, Illinois, where she was Campus Minister at Western Illinois University.
Her interest in religious life brought her to Meriden, Connecticut where she was employed by the Franciscan Life Center for three years. In 2007 she served in Franciscan Home Care's program for "Promoting Independence for Elderly" where she visited over 100 persons regularly in the towns of Meriden and Wallingford.
